The Reverend Kimberly D. Lucas, Rector
Parish Mission Statement: Placing God at the
center of our lives, we recruit others to join us as we reclaim
and celebrate the love the triune God has bestowed upon us;
and through diligence and care for each other, we work to
retain and build relationships with all who share our Christian
faith and minister to the world. In carrying out our mission,
we value: |
|
"The Church is like a great ship being
pounded by the waves of life's different stresses. Our
duty is not to abandon ship, but keep her on her course."
--Saint
Boniface |
|
-
Growth and change through a rebirth in spirituality led
by a dynamic, corporate worship;
-
Outreach through regular pastoral and lay visitation
of members, newcomers, and others seeking a relationship
with Christ;
-
Diversity cultural, social, ethnic and racial; and
-
Diversified programs geared to meet the needs of the
youth, the seniors, families and singles.
|
Our Mission is to intentionally
place God at the center of our identity as a Church. Placing
God at the center requires discernment in its fullest sense,
and such discernment takes a practiced heart, truly a gift
of God. We need to practice placing God at the center because
lifes different stresses make it easy for us to forget our
mission. In essence, the mission given to us is more a gift
from God and others, cultivated and brought to perfection
by what we say we value above: growth, rebirth, corporate
worship, outreach, diversity and the quest for Christ in our
lives. This leads me to the essence of my vision for St. Ambrose:
|
To become a Church seasoned in the habit of viewing all of life through the eyes of Christian faith. In that faith-stance we become a church not just for ourselves, but for the world, as we help the world determine which movements of the heart are leading to greater love and authenticity, focusing one in God, and which of them are turning one away from God. It is in this context of viewing all of life through the eyes of Christian faith that we invite you to join our Church.
|
In corporate worship, we unite ourselves with others to acknowledge the holiness of God, to hear God's Word, to offer prayer, and to celebrate the sacraments.
--BCP, p. 857 |
|
We invite you to join us through intentional
spiritual and social practices such as vibrant worship, retreats,
hospital and prison visitations, youth and adult pilgrimages,
quiet days, health and fitness programs and regular Christian
education programs.
Through these practices, and many more,
Christian spirituality in the end is displayed as the ongoing
habit of discernment rooted in the conversion of individuals
to form the multitude of saints.
